Software Engineer

March 2010–Present
  • Assumed responsibility and added functionality to client portal website written in Groovy and Grails, deployed on a Linux machine with Tomcat server.
  • Provided technical support in a small team designing and implementing a robust object oriented framework utilizing Java, Hibernate and Spring on a relational database back-end.
  • Implemented a number of multi-threaded performance tests on company’s software API against MySQL database using Java reflection techniques and JUnit.

Software Engineering Intern

  • Managed Google search engine optimization (SEO) for AeroWeb, an airport webdesign brochure site presented to hundreds of airports at the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) NextGen Conference.

  • Supervised two high school interns and integrated artificial intelligence (AI), natural language processing, and a user-friendly interface using Java EE for a client at Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.

PROJECTS

Ice Breakers

independent game

Initiated and directed a team including one artist and one music composer to create an action-puzzle game using the Microsoft XNA framework written in C# from start to finish. Implemented all programming aspects including physics engine, menu system, game progression, level design, particle effects engine, and game saves.

RGB DS

student game developers club project

Completed a Nintendo DS puzzle platformer with a team of six, written in C++ using the PALib library. Integrated important gameplay elements and developed a visually pleasing particle effect engine.

Chief Watzon

student game developers club project

Completed a multitude of tasks with a team of three to create Nintendo DS platformer in C++. Contributed to level design, game design, testing, boss AI, and art.

Ray Tracer

Worked with a partner to develop a ray tracer in C++, rendering user-defined models which display reflective properties and colors and allowing for the manipulation of camera location, camera orientation, and anti-aliasing of the rendering.
